Jhado Rinpoche – Vajra Yogini empowerment and commentary

Event from October 26 to November 3, 2026.

Overview

Jhado Rinpoche will confer the Vajra Yogini empowerment, followed by a commentary on the practice.
Teaching in Tibetan with consecutive interpretation into French and English.

Schedule:
Monday, October 26, from 1 PM to 5 PM

  • Vajra Yogini initiation
    It is essential to have already received a Maha Anuttara Yoga Tantra initiation to receive this initiation.

    If you have not yet received an initiation of this type, Jhado Rinpoche will give two one week earlier near the Vajra Yogini Institute at Nalanda Monastery.
    It is also possible to attend the initiation without having previously received a Maha Anuttara Yoga Tantra initiation; in this case, it will function solely as a blessing.
    For both the initiation and the blessing, there will be a lifelong commitment, which will likely be at least the daily recitation of mantras.

    By registering to receive this empowerment, you certify that you:

    • have taken refuge in the Three Jewels;
    • have faith and devotion toward His Eminence Jhado Rinpoche;
    • have faith in the Buddhist tantras;
    • have received teachings on the stages of the path—the Lamrim—and have a good understanding of them;
    • are not a Shugden practitioner.
      .

From October 27 to November 3, 2026:

  • Vajra Yogini Commentary
    Sessions: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
    It is essential to have received a Vajra Yogini empowerment in order to receive this commentary.

    By receiving this commentary, you undertake to:

    • maintain the bodhisattva vows for your entire life, abstaining from the 18 root downfalls and the 46 secondary transgressions;
    • observe for your entire life the commitments given by His Eminence Jhado Rinpoche to receive this commentary; this is generally the commitment to recite the long sadhana every day, for the rest of your life.

The teacher

Jhado Rinpoche was born in 1954 north of Lhasa, Tibet. He took novice vows with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1964 and received full ordination in 1973 from Ling Rinpoche. From 1972 to 1990, Rinpoche studied at Sera Je monastery and obtained the title of Lharampa Geshe in 1991.

From 1992 to 1996, Rinpoche taught at Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, then became its abbot from 1997 to 2004.

Jhado Rinpoche is one of the most esteemed lamas of the Gelugpa tradition. In addition to his excellent monastic education, Rinpoche received many oral transmissions and initiations from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, his two tutors, as well as great masters from other traditions, such as Troulshik Rinpoche.

Known for his keen intellect and dynamic teaching style, as well as his ability to personally touch Western students, Rinpoche is also appreciated for his gentleness and kindness.

The location

The teaching is organized by Vajra Yogini Institute, a Buddhist center located in a magnificent 19th-century château in the French countryside near Toulouse.
